Stroke of Redness

A woman in bewitching, siren-red lipstick, has, is, and always will be...eternally seductive. And not to mention, it's the single most subtly-powerful way to accessorize an outfit.

(Those ancient Egyptian temptresses c. 3000 B.C. who stained their lips with berries and various other plant substances to attract male attention didn't do it for nothing!)

The chicest way to wear the look is with ....absolutely nothing. Naked face. No eyes. No cheeks. No earrings. Just lips...or else it just feels too much like you should be wearing head-to-toe leopard print.

Green is the new "It"

A while back I spotted a burgeoning trend amongst a few of the chicest NYC women that I know...The new "It" bag appears to be a sustainable a.k.a. biodegrable a.k.a. earth-friendly a.k.a. eco-green, canvas tote. It's pure genius. And, has somehow quenched my semi-annual, reoccuring craving for a new, even-more-fabulous-than-the-last, 'I-promise-this-is-the-last-handbag-that-I-will-ever-need-for-the-rest-of-my-life!' "investment" bag. (And we all know what I mean by investment.) OMG. Look at her booties!

From under this week's white tents at Bryant Park (i.e. Rag + Bone Spring/Summer '09 collection) to the streets of downtown Manhattan, chicsters are starting to sport high-heeled booties with bare legs. Something about the proportion is delightfully fresh, and quite simply, hot.

Thin Waisted

Ladies, get ready to break out your old Catholic school cardigans (or new Fall trench coat), pair it with a thin belt this Fall and prepare to be the chicest in all the land. Well, at least for a few days until everyone else catches on to the trend of course.

Sidenote: I need this jacket... Badly.

Tan is the new black?

I'm always on the look out for new and interesting color pairings that are unusual but somehow work. I recently spotted this grey/tan combo during one of the F/W 08 shows and decided to keep it in mind the next time I felt subconsciously obligated to only wear my tan boots with black or blue denim.

Gold Rush

It's BAAAaaack. I knew my favorite color du jour, in all of its precious yellow metallic-ness wouldn't be gone for long. From the disco 70s' golden spandex to the heavy fool's gold-laced 80s (a la oversized chains, nameplates and door knockers), no other color or jewelry delivers quite the same panache. Whether you're looking to mix in a taste of the Far East with an arm full of gold bangles or add a little mafioso glimmer with a gold cocktail pinky ring, the Midas touch always seems to magically enhance any look.

So here are my top solid gold choices for the rest of '08. Welcome back, my love. It just wasn't as fun without you.
